Light, balanced, not overwhelming
NICE Technology Appraisal guidance (TA875 for semaglutide/Wegovy and TA664 for liraglutide/Saxenda) recommends these medications for weight management in adults with: A body mass index (BMI) of at least 35 kg/m and At least one weight-related comorbidity (such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea, or non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) For liraglutide (Saxenda), NICE TA664 specifies additional criteria including prediabetes (HbA1c 42-47 mmol/mol or fasting plasma glucose 5.5-6.9 mmol/L) or high risk of cardiovascular disease
37 DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION The recommended starting dose of oral semaglutide is 3 mg once daily for 30 days
A retrospective cohort study found that semaglutide use was associated with a 44% reduced risk of incident cannabis use disorder (CUD) in patients with no prior history (hazard ratio [HR]: 0.56, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.420.75) and a 38% reduction in recurrent CUD diagnosis (HR: 0.62, 95% CI: 0.460.84) among patients with a prior history, compared to non-GLP-1RA medications [61]
This makes it suitable for some patients who may already be experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms
Anything bypassing a prescription or offering "liquid pearls/drops" is a red flag
