He was the second and the last ruler of the Pahlavi dynasty, which ruled Iran from 1925 1979, and was also the last King of Iran, replaced by the present Islamic government. The obverse has an image of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (fifth portrait), while the reverse has an image of the Karaj dam in central Iran whose construction started in 1957 and was completed in 1961.
